The documentary project Shi xiong di (Kung Fu Brothers) follows the young students of a small daoist kung fu school in Wudang, China. The documentary focuses on their daily life and training, and the viewer also gets to join them on their performance trips.

This non-profit documentary is produced, written, directed, filmed and edited by filmmaker and art educator Mirkka Suhonen from Oulu, Finland. The project was made in association with Wudang Daoist Martial Arts Academy. It is cultural exchange between Finland and China.

Many dashing kung fu performances are presented but the main focus of the documentary is on these bright-natured young people as they are. The original music for the film is composed by Ville Suopajärvi. Persons in charge of translation are Yumin Raitamaa and Liyun Zhang.

The long-awaited premiere will be held on 21st of August 2020 in Oulu!

 

There are two screenings: 18:00 and 20:00.The documentary is in two parts; both parts will be screened at each screening. Director present – total duration of a screening is about 1,5h. There will be wide safety distances and the seats will be very limited.
